Maulana was Dian’s classmate. They went to the same high school in Bandung, SMAN 3 Bandung, and the same university, Institut Teknologi Bandung. They were united again in Germany when pursuing their master degree. Together with two other friends, Yoeki and Prio, they formed this group Sabilulungan.

His greatest experience in music was achieved in summer 2004 when he led Keluarga Paduan Angklung SMAN 3 Bandung, KPA 3, travelling across six countries (Germany, Belgium, France, United Kingdom, Czech Republic and Poland) for 40 days, promoting Angklung. They were successfully awarded Best Folk Band and Audience Prize Winner at International Festival of Highland Folklore, Zakopane Poland and Festival's Best Group and Audience Prize Winner at International Folklore Festival, Cerveny Kostelec Czech Republic.
