  1. Objective

Short term
-         Forming an orchestra and get itself ready for a single performance
-         Facilitating students to learn other culture
Long term
-         Establishing a well organized high school orchestra

  1. Object/ Participants

      -         High school students
-         15 – 25 persons expected

Knowledge about music may help, but not necessary. So, everybody can join the orchestra no matter what his/her music level is. The target of this project is a group of youngsters who loves music and is interested in learning new things, "traditional instruments".

Students who are good at particular instrument may play additional/supporting instrument. For some particular songs a present of a singer is needed. So the orchestra is also open to anybody who has a prior skill in particular instrument or singing.

  1. Facility/Equipment needed

      -         Classroom (for rehearsal)
-         Score stands
-         Storage (for instruments)

  1. Instruments:

Main instrument
-         Angklung

Additional/supporting instruments
-         Accompaniment (similar to angklung but for chords)
-         Kendang (Indonesian drums)
-         Contra bass
-         Percussion: cymbal, bass drum
-         Tambourine

  1. Rehearsal

      -         Once a week  (approx. 1.5 hours)
-         Ideally 6-8 weeks are needed to be ready for a performance.

Timetable
Week 1      : Introduction to angklung
      -         introduction
      -         how to play
      -         how to read the scores
      -         try out: one simple song
Week 2-3  : Rehearsal with big scores with pointing
Week 4      : Rehearsal with big scores without pointing
                    Accompanied by additional instruments
Week 5-6   : Rehearsal with small scores
                    Accompanied by additional instruments and singer
Week 7      : Repetition
                    All songs, small scores, full additional instruments
